White belt to black

Students are required to do the minimum number of classes and have their Sensei's approval before they can attempt the next grade level.

Criteria01

Students are required to do the minimum number of classes and have their Sensei's approval before they can attempt the next grade level.

General understanding of the basic strikes, blocks, stances and kicks (in English)
Clear progress in discipline in class (listening to the instructor) since the start of training
Understanding of the first or second kata

Good understanding of all the strikes, blocks, stances and kicks (in English and Japanese)
Confident in the grading kata and all previously learnt kata
An improved fitness and stamina level
Increased confidence in free sparring
Disciplined and consistent with training (1 or more classes per week)

All of the previous points, plus:

Ability to protect themselves against most unarmed attacks
Confident in demonstrating and in practical applications of Sepai and all previously learnt kata
Top level of fitness and stamina

Minimum age for attaining black belt is 15 years.

01Chairs are reserved for spectators. Students must stand or sit on the floor.
02Bring your full uniform. The club badge must be sewn on.
03Photography is allowed for personal record only, not to be shared on social media.
